Mother could face jail because her children talked to each other on Facebook – Telegraph

This case would make headlines across the land, if it were not hidden behind the family courts’ extraordinary wall of secrecy.

Media (PR) – #wco Family Courts (Parents who abduct children should face longer in prison, says top judge)

13/12/2011

Judge, The Lord raised and interesting point.

Subject(s): Family Courts; Childcare; Equality; Justice; NRP Rights; Parenting

… Lord Judge said: “The abduction of children from a loving parent is an offence of unspeakable cruelty to the loving parent and to the child or children, whatever they may later think of the parent from whom they have been estranged as a result of the abduction.” …

Comment by #wco: I whole heartedly agree with this quote from Lord Judge.
However the removal of contact with children from a loving Non Resident Parent is an offence of unspeakable cruelty to the loving parent and to the child or children too. All too often the “system” appears to forget that the reason so many NRP’s end up in court is precisely because of this “unspeakable cruelty” which is ignored by the Family Court system and the trauma endured to even get to court far certainly (in the words of Lord Judge) ‘does not meet “true justice”, especially for the other “loving parent”‘.

This tragic abuse of child and Non Resident Parent should be treated as seriously as Lord Judge says, with punishment for the Parent With Care, and their collaborators including “care” agencies & legal teams, that inflicts this systematic and “unspeakable cruelty”

Client complaints – the Untouchable Syndrome (via Lawyer Watch)

12/06/2011

YouGov's research into First-Tier Complaints Handling for the Legal Services Board has been published. It's a generally depressing read. The report looks at users of legal services who were dissatisfied with the service they received and whether and how they complained. In particular, its aim is to ascertain whether the introduction of the Legal Ombudsman has had a significant impact on complaints handling and, in particular, whether the professi … Read More

Gov Ministerial Statement – #wco Family Courts (Justice: Face to Face Services (Civil and Family Court Offices))

04/06/2011

Djanogly, Jonathan raised and interesting point.

Subject(s): Family Courts; Legal Aid

Following the creation on 1 April of Her Majesty’s Courts and Tribunals Service (HMCTS), I have agreed that the agency should explore the potential to modernise the way in which face to face services in the civil and family courts are provided through its public counters. This will allow a clearer focus of resources on those services which require face to face service and those which should be conducted through alternative means such as online or via the telephone. …
